Lay Organization
The Lay Organization is the teaching arm of the church and its membership is open to every unordained person in the church. Teachings and opportunities to learn are available to all.
WMS
The Women’s Missionary Society (WMS) is the Women’s representational missionary entity of the AME church nationally and worldwide. The WMS has a record of 131 years of service committed to winning souls to Christ, health, economic, peace and justice issues. Historic Bethel operates four smaller units under the umbrella of the Mary Ann Jones Women’s Missionary Society.
YPD
The Young People’s Division of the Church provides a venue for youth from ages 2-26 to participate in age-appropriate activities within the church, our district and connection. Youth elect their own officers and perform service projects that they select, have youth bible study and Christian outreach and conference activities, just to name a few.

Music/MCAM Ministry
The purpose of the Music Ministry is to share the gospel of Jesus Christ through song, encourage believers in their walk with Christ, lead the congregation in worship and provide an avenue through which individuals may share their gift and be an integral part of the worship service. All are invited to join this ministry.
Youth
Food Pantry
The Bethel AME Food Pantry is weekly ministry available to individuals and to families in need of food. We are committed to serving our communities and helping God’s people in need of essential items.
Sons of Allen
The Sons of Allen is the men’s fellowship that aims to foster closer relationships between men of the church, to equip men of the church for meaningful service, to reach unchurched men, and to present positive role models for our youth.
Media
Prayerline Ministry
Daily (Monday- Friday) the prayer line meditation is open to hear a morning meditation and receive prayer requests and praise reports prior to beginning the day’s journey. This ministry is available to all and provides a morning motivator in the span of twenty minutes.
Bible Study
Bible study is the bloodline of the church. Members and guests are invited to attend weekly bible study as well as church school on Sunday mornings.

Reverend Markus-Derek White
Historic Bethel’s Ministerial Leader
standing on the strong historical foundation of bethel, we aim to answer How the past of the Black Church will inform its future for survival.
Reverend White has served in many ministerial capacities. In addition to serving as the proud Pastor of Historic Bethel A.M.E. Church, he is also a former educator serving as a 7th grade History and Science teacher and currently serves as a Caseworker to young African American boys with Friends of the Children of Tampa Bay. Additionally, he is the proud owner and CEO of Sankofa Educational Coaching and Consulting LLC.
